Show Us CNY16 combines the creativity of individuals and the power of social media to create a colorful, crowd-sourced tapestry of life in Central New York.
Whether you’re an amateur or professional photographer, you’re invited to grab your camera or smartphone and take a pic of what you’re doing/what you see/who you’re with/where you are. Then post it with the hashtag #ShowUsCNY16 to Twitter, Instagram and Facebook or send it as an email attachment to firstname.lastname@example.org. Share as many as you like; there is no limit! Then check out our gallery on the front page to see ALL of the submissions forming a community collage of what people enjoy most about Central New York.
Photos may be from right now — in the moment — or of anything taken from July 2015 to July 2016 … but they shouldn’t have previously appeared in Show Us CNY (in other words: if you shared an image once before, don’t share it again).
When can you submit? At any time, but we’d especially like to see LOTS of shots during our target period from Memorial Day weekend to Independence Day weekend.
And then in July, from all of the collected images, a jury will select 40 — based upon their joyfulness, spirit, cleverness and/or overall artistry — that will be printed, mounted and displayed in an exhibition. Details on this to come.
Show Us CNY16 is led by Social Media Breakfast Syracuse, an organization of local social media practitioners and enthusiasts. Kevin Morrow is the principal organizer of Show Us CNY16 and receives administrative and technical support from Joanna Giansanti and Jared Paventi.
Show Us CNY16 is inspired by Social Media Day (Monday, June 27), an international event created by the Mashable media organization in 2010 as “a way to recognize the digital revolution happening right before our eyes.”
